The KLX 450R is an off-road bike that uses the engine and chassis layout of the KX450F motocrosser, retuned for stronger low- and mid-range power. Kawasaki added an electric starter alongside the kick, a five-speed gearbox, an 18-inch rear wheel and a larger fuel tank. Its suspension is tuned for trail riding rather than motocross, and reviewers found the stock engine smooth and quiet but less aggressive than racers expect.
